Alleviating poverty and food insecurity Project Kick Off

DCES plays a crucial role in supporting displaced and host communities in Central Darfur by providing essential NFI kits and food baskets to ease hardships amid Sudan’s ongoing conflict.

We at the Dariba Center are pleased to announce the launch of the project titled “Alleviating poverty and food insecurity by distributing NFI kits and food baskets to newly displaced and host Households in Rokero and Mukjer localities in Central Darfur State”.

Funded by SaferWorldโ€™s Sudan office and in partnership with the African House Organization and the Emergency Room of Mukjar locality, we are committed to creating a foundation for improved well-being and long-term stability for those affected in Central Darfur through sustained efforts.

๐Ÿ“Location: Mukjer Locality

๐Ÿ“ˆAim: Distributing food baskets

๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿง’โ€๐Ÿง’Beneficiaries: 280 newly displaced and host households.

The first activity of the project was holding an introductory meeting including DECS team, local community members, and partner organisations to introduce the operational team and the projects. The meeting included several discussions about the projectโ€™s activities, outcomes, and the active role of the local community. The attendees successfully formed a local committee consisting of Mukjar residents to be actively engaged in the project.

At DECS, we believe in the vital role of local communities and youth-led initiatives in supporting emergency projects and addressing their needs.
