Position Summary: 

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Finance Assistant to support our rapid response project in the Darfur region. The Finance Assistant will be responsible for assisting with financial management, maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and supporting the overall financial administration of the project. This is a short-term contract for two months with the possibility of extension based on project needs and funding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports, budgets, and forecasts for the project.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and financial transactions.
  • Maintain and update financial records, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements.
  • Support the monitoring and reconciliation of project expenditures against budget.
  • Assist in managing cash flow, including the preparation of cash requests and expense reports.
  • Liaise with field staff and partners to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation for audits and financial reviews.
  • Provide general administrative support to the finance team as needed.

Qualifications and Experience: 

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a similar finance or accounting role, preferably within an NGO or humanitarian context.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of financial management principles, including budgeting, reporting, and reconciliation.
  • Fluency in both English and Arabic (written and spoken) is required.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
  • Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance standards related to donor funding is an asset.
  • Familiarity with the context of the Darfur region and previous experience in similar settings is a plus.
