In response to the ongoing cholera outbreak in Central Jebel Marra, the Dariba Center for Environmental Studies (DCES) launched a comprehensive environmental sanitation campaign in Jaldo on Monday, 8 September 2025, aligning the intervention with the town’s busy weekly market day to maximize outreach and impact.
✨ Key activities carried out by our team included:
✅ Chlorine distribution at critical water sources to ensure access to safe drinking water.
✅ Health awareness sessions with Jaldo market visitors on the risks of cholera and practical prevention measures.
✅ Disinfection of high-risk areas, including the town’s slaughterhouse and stagnant water points, to limit potential sources of infection.
✅ Spraying at displacement centers to enhance the safety and protection of vulnerable community members.

Through this rapid response, DCES reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding public health, supporting affected families, and working with partners to reduce the spread of cholera in the region.
Together with the communities we serve, we continue to build safer, healthier, and more resilient environments.
