Restoration of Lowny Forest – Sennar 2025

On Tuesday, August 19, 2025, Deriba Center for Environmental Studies (DCES) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding MoU) with the National Forestry Corporation in Sennar State to restore Lowny Forest in Abu Hajar Locality, covering a total of 477 feddans.

The first phase of the project will focus on restoring 120 feddans using seedlings and seeds through the Taungya system, with the active participation of the Loni village community. The second phase of the project will expand restoration efforts to cover the remaining area of 300 feddans.

This milestone reflects a strong commitment of DCES to ecosystem restoration, forest conservation, and climate resilience, in partnership with local communities and stakeholders.
