Scaling Up Safe Water Access in Tawila Al-Omda Camp – North Darfur

In response to the ongoing humanitarian needs in Sudan, and with the generous support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)—in strategic partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM)—our organization has launched a critical water supply intervention in Tawila Al-Omda Camp, North Darfur.

Through daily water trucking operations, we are delivering an estimated 70,000 liters of safe drinking water via seven trips per day, reaching around 25,000 conflict-affected individuals.

🔹 Project Highlights

This initiative aims to improve the health, dignity, and well-being of displaced communities through an integrated WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) approach that includes:

  • Provision of clean drinking water
  • Rehabilitation of hand pumps
  • Installation of water tanks
  • Construction of emergency latrines and handwashing stations
  • Community-led hygiene awareness campaigns

🔹 Community Engagement

A stakeholder meeting was held to introduce the project, outlining its objectives, target area selection criteria, and implementation mechanisms.
Participants included local leaders, women’s representatives, volunteers, and humanitarian actors, who emphasized:

  • The importance of transparency in aid delivery
  • The value of community participation
  • The role of local committees in ensuring accountability and sustainability
