Theme: “We Will Always Need a Latrine”
To conclude the World Latrine Day activities, the Deriba Center for Environmental Studies (DCES), in collaboration with Solidarités International, carried out a series of field visits to five primary schools across North Darfur:
🏫 Imam Ibn Malik – Al-Zahraa – Dabba Naira – Khalid Ibn Al-Waleed – Abu Dujana
These visits strengthened students’ understanding of proper sanitation, safe hygiene practices, and the importance of maintaining clean latrines in schools.
What the Visits Included
✔ Assessment of WASH Needs
Evaluating the sanitation, water access, and hygiene conditions within each school to identify priority gaps.
✔ Distribution of Cleaning & Hygiene Materials
Providing essential supplies to enhance school cleanliness and support ongoing hygiene practices.
✔ Awareness Health Sessions
Students received engaging messages on the importance of safe sanitation, handwashing, and disease prevention.
✔ Educational Competitions
Fun, health-focused competitions helped reinforce positive hygiene habits and encouraged student participation.
